(February 27, 2010)

Despite being down 14 points at the end of the third period to the top-seeded Wilson Wildcats, the Varsity Cadets weren't going to bow out easily. The #8 Cadets battled back in the fourth quarter, defensively holding Wilson to only 8 points, as the offense scored 16 points to bring the Cadets to within 3.  The Wilson Wildcats were able to hold on, ending the Cadets Sectional hopes, 54-51.  Ryan Hrankowski led the Cadets (9-11) with 17 points and Senior Colin Peterson added 12 points. Ty'shaun Murrell had 12 points for Wilson and grabbed 8 rebounds and 6 steals for the Wildcats (17-2);  Cameron Bailey and Devonn Gavin led Wilson scorers with 13 points each.  [Game Recap]

UPDATE (March 6, 2010):  On March 3, #1 Wilson was defeated by #4 Fairport and #2 Rush Henrietta defeated #6 Gates-Chili in the AAA Semi-Final rounds.  Rush-Henrietta went on to defeat Fairport 75-49 in the Section V AAA Finals at the BlueCross Arena on March 6.

VARSITY CADETS SETTLE THE SCORE WITH PATRIOTS! 
ADVANCE IN AAA SECTIONALS!

(February 24, 2010)

The Varsity Cadets (9-10) opened the season with a 54-68 loss to the Penfield Patriots on December 8.  In Round 1 of the AAA Sectionals, the #8 Cadets hosted #9 Penfield, and the Cadets brought their "A" game, defeating the Patriots 50-42.  The Cadets jumped to an early first quarter lead, outscoring the Patriots 12-6.  But the Patriots were able to pull ahead in the second quarter, with a 22-20 half-time lead.  The Cadets shaved the Patriot's lead to one at the end of the third quarter.  The Cadets were able to outscore the Patriots 20-11, going 13 of 17 from the foul line, in the fourth quarter. 

Junior Colton Connor scored 10 of his 12 points in the final quarter.  Senior Colin Peterson led the Cadets with 20 points and 8 rebounds.   [Game Recap]

 

The Cadets advance to Round 2 of the AAA Sectionals and will face #1 seeded, Wilson-Magnet, at Wilson-Magnet on Saturday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m.

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL LAND 8th SEED IN SECTIONALS
(February 19, 2010)
The Varsity Cadets (8-10) have been seeded #8 in Section V AAA and will host Penfield (6-12) on
Wednesday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m.  The winner will meet #1 Seed, Wilson-Magnet on February 27.

GREECE OLYMPIA DEFEATS CADETS 67-60

(February 15, 2010)

The Varsity Cadets (8-10) fell to Greece Olympia (12-6) after fighting to overcome the Spartans' lead in the fourth quarter.  Olympia's Brandon Myles went 5-for-6 from the line with 15 seconds left to put the game out of reach for the Cadets.  Hilton Senior Duell Smith led the Cadets with 19 points; Olympia's Cody Sarkis had 22 points to lead the Spartans.   [Game Recap]

Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball Team Goes Undefeated
(February 15, 2010)

The Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball team defeated Greece Olympia 57-51 to win Monroe County Division 2 and go undefeated with an 18 - 0 record. The team finished the season as the top team, according to points and is the only undefeated team in all of Monroe County Section V. Congratulations on a great season! Peterson, a 6-foot-6, senior forward/center scored 19 points in a win over Greece-Athena and 14 points in a win over Churchville-Chili.

Morabito, a 5-foot-10, senior guard, scored 18 points and collected five assists in a win over Brockport.

CADETS COME UP SHORT in OVERTIME loss to canandaigua 54-55

(February 15, 2010)

The Varsity Boys (8-9) suffered a last second overtime defeat to Canandaigua (7-10) on February 15.  With the Cadets holding a 7-point lead, Canandaigua rallied in the last four minutes of regulation to tie the game and send it into overtime.  With Hilton leading 54-53 and 1.6 seconds left in overtime, Canandaigua's Matt Scharr took an inbounds pass in for a layup to score the winning basket for Canandaigua.  Colin Peterson led the Cadets with 14 points.  Ryan Hrankowski and Duell Smith each had 11 points for the Cadets.  [Game Recap]

The Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball Team won their 17th game in a row by defeating Canandaigua Academy
58 – 48. The JV team plays their 18th and final game Wednesday at home against Greece Olympia. The boys remain on top of Monroe County’s Division 2 and the only undefeated team in all of Section V’s Monroe County Teams.

 



GREECE ARCADIA OUTSCORES CADETS 68-63

(February 12, 2010)

Greece Arcadia handed the Varsity Cadets (8-8, 8-5) their first loss since January 22 when the Cadets traveled to Arcadia on February 12.  Seniors Colby Morabito (20 points) and Colin Peterson (19 points) led the Cadets (11-6, 9-4) with 39 combined points.  The Cadets and Titans went basket for basket in the first quarter, but the Titans outscored the Cadets 23-8 in the second.  In the third and fourth quarters, the Cadets mounted a rally, cutting the Titans lead to two with a minute left in the game.  Arcadia's Steve Klimek made 5-of-6 free throws in the last minute to seal the Titans' victory.  Rob Echols led the Titans with 27 points and 7 rebounds. 16-0 JV CADETS UNDEFEATED WITH 2 GAMES TO GO!
(February 12, 2010)

Led by Davonte Bailey's 16 points, the Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball team defeated Greece Arcadia 52-38. The team's record is now 16 - 0 and they are on top of Monroe County Division 2.

LEADS CADETS OVER SPENCERPORT
(February 11, 2010)

Colby Morabito had 21 points when the Cadet's hosted Spencerport on February 10. Ryan Hrankowski added 10 points and Duell Smith and Colin Peterson each had 9 points in the Cadet's victory.  The Cadets (8-7) have won their last 4 games.  Jerame Owens scored 18 points for Spencerport (5-11). The Cadets' play at Greece Arcadia on Friday, February 12; tip off is at 7:45 (varsity).

With 3 games remaining, the Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball team remain undefeated and on top on Monroe County Division 2 by defeating Spencerport
46-34. The boys record is now 15 - 0.

(February 6, 2010)

Hilton's freshman guard Nick Prince scored a career-high 14 points for the Cadets (7-7) and Colin Peterson scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half.  Colby Morabito continued his dominance on the court, scoring 12 of his 13 points in the second half for Hilton.  Morabito was named Birdseye Player of the Week (Monroe County II) earlier in the week (Week 9, 1/26 through 2/1/2010). Churchville (6-9) was led by Marcus Blythers with 9 points.  The Cadets play Spencerport on Friday, February 10.  Game time is 7:45pm at Hilton High School.[Game Recap]

14-0 JV CADETS ROLL ON UNDEFEATED!
(February 6, 2010)

The Cadet's Junior Varsity squad continues to dominate the Monroe County JV Boys Division II standing with wins over Brockport 48-40 on January 29, Greece Athena on February 3 (57-50), and Churchville-Chili on February 5, 2020 (55-22).  The JV team will host Spencerport at 6:15 on February 10.  Monroe County JV Boys Division II Basketball Standings.

 

Seniors MORABITO, SMITH AND PETERSON LEAD CADETS  OVER 6th RANKED GREECE ATHENA!
(February 4, 2010)

Colby Morabito (13 points, 10 assists) and Duell Smith (12 points, 10 assists) each had double-doubles as the Cadets (6-7) defeated the Greece Athena Trojans (10-3) (previously ranked 6th in the Democrat and Chronicle Large School coaches' poll).  Colin Peterson added 19 points and went 5-fo-6 from the free thrown line.  The Cadets' victory follows a 69-58 loss to the Trojans in January. The Cadets held the lead from the tip off, outscoring the Trojans 18-7 in the first quarter and holding a 29-22 lead at the half.  Athena, led by John Wallace with 16 points, cut the deficit to 47-44 with 2½ minutes left in the game, but Morabito sunk a 3-pointer to top off the upset. VARSITY Cadets TURN UP THE HEAT DEFEAT BROCKPORT 60-57
JV CADETS NOW 12-0 WITH WIN OVER BROCKPORT!
(January 29, 2010)

The Brockport Blue Devils took an early lead in the game, outscoring the Cadets 32-20 in the first half.  But the Varsity Cadets weren't ready to give up.  Going into the fourth quarter, the Cadets, led by Colby Morabito, had shaved the Blue Devil's lead to only 4 points.  The Cadets went 13-for-15  from the line in the fourth quarter and finally took the lead with just 3 minutes to go in the game.  In his first game back from a wrist injury, Colby Morabito had 18 points, 5 assists.  Duell Smith and Nick Prince added 12 points each in the Cadets' victory.  The Cadets are now 5-7, heading into the last few games of the season. The Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball team defeated Brockport extending their record to 12-0! The team remains on top of the Monroe County JV Boys Division II Basketball standings.

VARSITY Cadets fall to G-C Spartans 36-43 JV CADETS GO 11-0 WITH WIN OVER GATES-CHILI
(January 22, 2010)

Going into the half with a 12-point lead, the Hilton Cadets Varsity offense could not out-maneuver the Gates Chili Spartan's pressure defense in the 2nd half.  The Cadets' leading scorer, Colin Peterson scored 18 points in the loss.  Trailing 24-12 at the half, the Spartan's offense, led by Raymond Harris with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 3 steals (all in the 2nd half), was able to change the momentum of the game, outscoring the Cadets 31-12.  The Cadets are now 4-8; the Spartans are 7-5. The Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball team defeated Gates-Chili in a very physical and competitive basketball game by the score of 48 - 37. The JV Cadets were led offensively by Nick Ross's 17 points and defensively by Davonte Bailey along with great team defense. The team remains on top of the Monroe County JV Boys Division II Basketball standings.

PETERSON LEADS CADETS In LOSS TO OLYMPIA
(January 20, 2010)

Senior Colin Peterson led the Cadets' Varsity Boys Basketball with 12 points in the Cadet's 44-51 loss to Greece Olympia on January 20.  Nick Prince and Duell Smith each added 8 points for the Cadets and Ryan Hrankowski had 7 points.  Olympia's Cody Sarkis scored 8 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Spartans (6-5). The Cadet JV's improved their record to 10 – 0 to remain on top of Monroe County Boys Basketball by defeating Greece Olympia 55 – 29. The victory was a total team effort.

(January 12, 2010)

The Cadets' Varsity Boys Basketball team improved their record to 4-5 with a 51-33 victory over the Spencerport Rangers on the road on January 12.  Junior Guard, Ryan Hrankowski led the Cadets with 16 points and Senior, Colby Morabito had 14 points.  Spencerport's Taylor DiGuardi had 11 points in the Rangers' loss. ON THE ROAD AGAINST CHURCHVILLE-CHILI SAINTS
(January 8, 2010)

The Cadets' Varsity Boys Basketball team chalked up a win against Churchville-Chili on Friday, January 8.  Colby Morabito led the Cadets with 19 points; Colin Peterson and Duell Smith added 15 and 11 points, respectively.  [Game Recap]

The Cadets' record is now 3-5 as they host Spencerport (4-3) on Tuesday, January 12.  JV tip-off is at 5:30 and Varsity is at 7:15.

The Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball Team defeated Churchville-Chili by a score of 57-29. The win was a complete team victory with everyone scoring and contributing. They remain in first place in Monroe County Division II with the record of 8 and 0.

HILTON CADETS BATTLE GREECE ATHENA TROJANS
(January 5, 2010)

Greece Athena, led by Casey Sheehan with 30 points/12 rebounds, shut down the Cadets' offense in the first half, taking an 11 point lead into the locker room at halftime.  The Cadets, led by Seniors Colin Peterson with 19 points and Colby Morabito (15 points), battled the Trojans basket for basket in the second half, unable to overcome Athena's lead.  Peterson scored 3 from the 3-point range.   Final Score:  Athena 69 - Hilton 58.  [Game Recap]

The Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball Team extended their record to 7 - 0 by defeating Greece Athena 56 - 49. The Cadets were led by point guard Nick Ross's 21 points. The JV Boys are currently in first place in Monroe County Division 2.

The Boys Varsity and JV Basketball Teams travel to Churchville-Chili on 1/8.

(December 31, 2009)

Colin Peterson scored 12 points, Ryan Hrankowski added 10 and Colby Morabito had 8 points for the Cadets in the Hilton Hall of Fame Championship Game against Victor.  Victor's Tyler Brooks was 7-7 from the line in the fourth quarter and Brad Ford grabbed seven rebounds for the Blue Devils (5-2). In the Consolation Game, Greece Arcadia's Steven Klimek scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half as the Titans took a 35-20 halftime lead. Arcadia went on to defeat Eastridge 65-42 to take 3rd place in the tournament.  Arcadia's Rob Echols and Peter Clark each added 11 points for the Titans (4-3). HILTON JV CADETS 6-0 AFTER TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP WIN!
(December 31, 2009)

Hilton Cadets JV Boys Basketball team won the 2009 Hall of Fame Basketball Tournament by defeating Greece Arcadia in the first round 51-35 and then Eastridge in the finals by a score of 38-36. Nick Ross, Davonte Bailey and Andrew Miller made the All Tournament Team with Andrew Miller voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. The JV team now has a record of 6-0. They play next on Tuesday January 5 against division opponent, Greece Athena.

CADETS ADVANCE TO  CHAMPIONSHIP DEFEAT GREECE ARCADIA 53-49!
(December 30, 2009)

Colby Morabito had 15 points and six assists for Hilton (2-3) against Greece Arcadia in Round 1 of the Hilton Hall of Fame Tournament.  Colby hit three 3-Pointers and went 10 of 12 shots from the foul line in the fourth quarter.  Colin Peterson had 15 points and Duell Smith added 12 points in the Cadets victory.  Robert Echols scored 20 for Greece Arcadia (3-2).  The Cadets will face Victor Blue Devils in the tournament championship, Wednesday, December 30 @ 7:00 pm at HHS.  Victor advanced to the championship round with a 79-31 win over Eastridge.  Victor's Phil Valenti scored 18 of his 20 points in the first quarter to lead the Blue Devils (4-2). VARSITY CADETS WIN AT HOME AGAINST BROCKPORT 56-35!
(December 18, 2009)

On their home court, the Cadets stole the show against the Brockport Blue Devils, 56-35.  Senior Colin Peterson scored 20 points for Hilton.  Freshman Nick Prince added 12 points and Colby Moabito had eight assists for the Cadets (1-3) and Brockport is 0-4.  [RECAP]

VARSITY CADETS LOSE HOME OPENER TO GATES CHILI
(December 16, 2009)

Gates Chili's Freddie Walker scored 9 of his 19 points in the second quarter as Gates (1-1) to take a 25-20 lead at halftime. Colby Morabito hit two 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter and Hilton (0-3) pulled within five points.  Hilton stole the ball with 16 seconds left and missed a 3-pointer to tie the game. VARSITY CADETS LOSE TO SCHROEDER
(December 11, 2009)

Colby Morabito scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers in Friday, December 11 loss to Webster Schroeder.
The Varsity Cadets are now 0-2 after an opening loss at Penfield.
The Cadets home opener is Wednesday, December 16 against Gates-Chili.

HILTON JV CADETS 2-0 AFTER WIN!
(December 11, 2009)

Hilton JV Boys Basketball Team defeated Webster Schroeder Friday December 11 by a score of 45 to 40.
The team was led by Nick Ross’s 20 points, with 11 coming in the fourth quarter.

JV CADETS OPEN SEASON WITH WIN ON THE ROAD!

The Hilton Cadets  JV Boys Basketball team defeated Penfield 60-47 on Tuesday December 8. They were led Davonte Bailey’s 17 points, Sean Conte’s 11 rebounds, Nick Ross’s 7 assists, and Cody Stoddart’s 4 steals.
